Major League Soccer 2024: Argentinian legend and reigning Ballon d'Or winner, Lionel Messi, pulled off a spectacular piece of work of art, as he combined with his long-time friend and former teammate, Jordi Alba to score a stunning equaliser to salvage a point for his side Inter Miami against a strong LA Galaxy side. The goal came in the dying minutes of the injury time at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, on Sunday, February 25, as LA Galaxy looked shell-shocked, with them witnessing the might of Lionel Messi and the greatness 'La Pulga' possesses even at the age of 36.

LA Galaxy Vs Inter Miami Major League Soccer Fixture - Match Report

LA Galaxy hosted Inter Miami for their MLS fixture as Messi's men travelled for their first away fixture of the league this season. Things started on an adverse note for Inter Miami as a foul from Julian Gressel granted the hosts a penalty. However, former FC Barcelona teammate of Messi, Riqui Puig missed the spotkick, as David Beckham-owned side survived an early scare.

After a goalless first half, LA Galaxy maintained their attacking approach and Inter Miami lloked completely out of sorts and their resilience finally took a hault when Dejan Joveljic scored i  the 75th minute to give LA Galaxy a 1-0 lead.

However, Messi rolled down the years, as he linked up with Jordi Alba to give football fans around the world a nostalgia of the former self of the duo, as they combined for a sensational equaliser, which resulted in a 1-1 stalemate, as both the sides shared the spoils.

“I think that in the second half we played better, we had chances, our opponents scored on the counterattack, but after we had the personality to continue searching and we arrived well to the tie, with the genius of Leo,” said Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, head coach of Inter Miami.
