'Man City Favourites For UCL': FC Barcelona Full-Back Hails Former Club To Win Champions League

FC Barcelona full back Joao Cancelo has weighed in for Manchester City to go all the way in UEFA Champions League this season. The statement comes in as a shock for Culers as the Portuguese, who's on loan from Man City, is going to face SSC Napoli in the return leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 at home, with the tie at 1-1. It is also noticeable that there is a probability of the teams to potentially face each other if Barcelona qualifies into the quarter-finals, and releasing such statments can end up being adverse for Cancelo, as he can face severe backlash from Barcelona faithful.

Joao Cancelo's Run At FC Barcelona So Far This Season

Joao Cancelo, merely two years ago, was amongst thebest players in thw world and the best full back in the world at Manchester City. Such was his all-round ability that he was racking up impressive numbers at the Premier League club with numerous assists and world-class goals.

What led to his downfall has his egoistic attitude and reluctance to be on the bench and this ended up severing his bond with current City manager Pep Guardiola, who then loaned the full-back to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. However, inspite of an impressive debut for the Bavarians, the full back couldn't do much and was ghosted when it mattered the most.

Man City again loaned out the Portuguese in the summer of 2023 to FC Barcelona and the Portuguese was a match winner for the Blaugranas in the first half of the season, but has blown hot and cold ever since. Xavi Hernandez still insists that he trusts the 29-yr old and can be a match winner on any given day.
