Lionel Messi may have already parted ways with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and ended a glorious phase of his career in Europe but he still isn't done bagging all his awards for his stint the Ligue 1 giants. The FIFA World Cup-winner with Argentina won the UEFA Champions League goal of the season award on Friday (June 30). He won the award for his sensational strike against Benfica which was a display of proper teamwork and a clinical finish from the master himself. His goal won the award ahead of the some of the other stunning goals most notably from the likes of Alejandro Grimaldo and Erling Haaland.

Messi has already made his exit with PSG official and will next be seen plying his trade for Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer (MLS). Messi's name was also linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and his former club FC Barcelona, however, the 36-year-old preferred the American club as he reckoned that he would be able to spend more time with his family there.

Take a look at Messi's award-winning goal here:

Talking about Messi's stint at the PSG, it wasn't as successful as he would have liked. While Messi joining the team had made a dream team come true with Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe also part of the offense other than Messi, the team did not even come close to winning the Champions League in both these seasons. As a result, there were a section of the club fans who booed Messi and ultimately the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner chose not to renew his contract.

It would be interesting to see how things work out for Messi in America in what is surely the last phase of what has been a glorious career in football.
