Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Christophe Galtier has been arrested for interrogration along with his son over his alleged involvement in discrimination during his stint with the Nice football club. The news has been confirmed by French news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP). It is pertinent to note that an investigation in the matter was launched in April after there were claims that suggested that Galtier made racist and Islamophobic comments about players when was the head coach of Nice during the 2021-22 season.

Follwing the news coming to the fore, it is being learnt that Galtier will be sacked by the Qatari owners of his current employers, the PSG. It has been an underwhelming season too for the PSG boss as he has coached a team which has succumbed to 10 defeats in 2023 while also bowing out of the UEFA Champions League in the pre-quarterfinal stage of the competition itsellf. Despite having the world's best talent at their disposal with the likes of Neymar Jr, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe alll playing for them, PSG failed to win the ultimate European trophy.

And now the club would look to rebuild with Messi having already confirmed a move to the United States with his stint with Inter Miami and Mbappe and Neymar's future with the club also uncertain. In addition, the side is also almost guaranteed of getting a new manager at the helm of affairs even as Galtier maintains that he had not made any racist or anti-Muslim remarks. While a leaked email from the Nice director of football Julien Fournier has been quoted by several media outlets including RMC Sport in which Fournier accuses Galtier of saying there were too many Black and Muslim players in the squad, Galtier, in a statememt released by his lawyer to French media said that he was “stunned to learn of the insulting and defamatory”.
