Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has made a huge revelation that the Brazilian had almost joined Premier League giants Liverpool back in 2017. The Brazilian forward has made the revelation during an interview with the Guardian, which was reported by Italian football transfer guru and journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Monday, April 8.

"We didn’t close the deal because I didn’t want to. I wanted to stay at Santos even though the offer was very good. The pathway promised to me would also have been very good for my career. I was going to finish my studies in England to prepare for European football. It had always been my dream to play in Europe. Everything was very good, but my desire spoke louder. I wanted to stay at Santos and make a bit of history at the club. And that’s what happened: I was able to fulfil my dream of playing for Santos. But it’s true, I almost went to Liverpool,” said Rodrygo during the interview.

Rodrygo's Real Madrid Career So Far In A Nutshell

Rodrygo joined Real Madrid in 2019 but was transferred to their B squad for the first half of the 2019/20 season, but his impressive performances gained him promotion to the main squad and the Brazilian has registered 52 goals and 37 assists in 207 appearances for the Los Blancos. Aged just 23 years, making 200 appearances for Real Madrid is SOME achievement and given the prominence of the Brazilian in the side, there is a very bleak chance of Carlo Ancelotti letting one of his lethal goalscoring af clutch players to leave for another European giant.
