Cristiano Ronaldo To Retire? Potugal coach Roberto Matinez has said that no decision has yet been made with regards to the footballing future of supertsar Cristiano Ronaldo following the team's Euro 2024 exit. Portugal succumbed to a defeat against France, losing 5-3 on penaltuies shattering Ronaldo's hopes of an international trophy in the twilight of his career. But was it the last time Ronaldo donned Portugal colours?

"It’s too soon and raw after the match to talk about that and there have been no individual decisions made," Martinez said when quizzed if it was the last time the world witnessed Ronaldo in Portugal colours. The retirement question has started also because of the footballer's poor performance in the competition with the record-goal scorer not  able to find the back of the net in any of the matches barring the shootouts.

Portugal experienced a defeat in the quarterfinals after Joao Felix missed his penalty but Martinez reckoned that the whole squad was supporting each other.

"I can tell you that the whole squad was supporting each other and only players who never shoot a penalty never miss," Martinez said.

"Joao has great control of the inside game, he worked hard to be there and this penalty is bad luck."

Pepe Reduced To Tears After Portugal's Exit

After Portugal's heartbreaking defeat, Pepe was reduced to tears. Martinez spoke about the same.

"Pepe is everything he showed in the tournament, not just during the matches, but the way he works through training sessions, the way he supports his colleagues, his commitment," Martinez said.
