The young PSG forward Kylian Mbappe finally spoke about the treatment Lionel Messi received when he played for the French club for two years. According to Mbappe, the club did not respect the legendary footballer. While talking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 24-year-old stated, “We are talking about potentially the best player in the history of football. It’s never good news when someone like Messi leaves. Personally, I don’t understand why so many people were so relieved that he was gone.”
“We are talking about Messi. He needs to be respected, and instead he didn’t get the respect he deserved in France. It’s a shame, but that’s how it happened. We will have to do what we can to replace him,” he added.
Kylian also spoke about his contract extension and reportedly said that he will not plan to extend his one-year contract when it expires next June.
In a statement presented in front of news agency AFP on Tuesday, Mbappe said “PSG were informed on July 15, 2022” of his decision to not extend his contract. The statement also added, “the only aim of the letter was to confirm what had already been spoken about previously”.
Recently, star footballer Lionel Messi stated that he will be signing for Major League Soccer side Inter Miami. He decided to move to the United States instead of a Barcelona reunion or a wholesome deal to play in Saudi Arabia. The 35-year-old has played for Paris Saint-Germain in the last two seasons after shifting his base from Barcelona in 2021, where he spent the majority of his career.
The 2022 World Cup winner was to return to his former club Barcelona or to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, but eventually, he decided to join co-owner David Beckham's Inter Miami in MLS.
"I've taken the decision that I am going to Miami, I don't have (the deal) 100 percent sealed or maybe there's something left to do, but we decided to continue our path there," Messi told Spanish newspapers Diario Sport and Mundo Deportivo
