Hosts England ended Day 3 of the third and final Test against the West Indies at Manchester in a dominant position and looked in a really strong position to win the match and clinch the 3-match series as experienced seamer Stuart Broad left the visitors tottering in their second innings after the hosts set them a 399-run stiff target at the Old Trafford here on Sunday.

At Stumps, the Windies were reeling at 10/2 (second innings), requiring a mammoth 389 runs to win the Manchester Test with eight wickets in their kitty. The Jason-Holder led team were in all sorts of trouble after Stuart Broad's double strike accounted for two early wickets. Broad struck early to remove opener John Campbell and removed John Campbell and nightwatchman Kemar Roach in a fiery spell of swing bowling to return with figures of 2/8.

Earlier in the day Broad was the chief architect in bundling out the Windies for a below par 191 in their first innings after picking up yet another fiver and inching closer to the 500-Test wicket mark. Broad claimed figures of 6/31 in the first essay.

Meanwhile England were put in the driver's seat on the back of a fine batting display in the second innings which saw the hosts pile up 226/2 before declaring their innings. Opener Rory Burns continued his good run with the willow scoring 90, although he missed out on a hundred as he was dismissed by Roston Chase. Skipper Joe Root finally ended his poor outing with the bat in the series notching up an 68 off just 56 deliveries while Dom Sibley scored 56.

England openers Burns and Sibley stepped up the acceleration right from the very start as they added 114 runs as they hammered the Windies bowling who looked out of sorts. Burns and Root then added 112 for the second wicket before they declared on 226/2.
