Women's T20 World Cup Final: Amelia Kerr Becomes First Player To Bag Both Player Of The Match & Player Of The Tournament Awards

Women's T20 World Cup Final: After match the match Kerr reflected on what was a terrific campaign for her personally and for her team, resulting in their maiden Women's T20 World Cup title.

Women's T20 World Cup Final: New Zealand beat South Africa in the final to win their maiden ICC Women's T20 World Cup on Sunday (October 21). It was Amelia Kerr who played a pivotal role in White Ferns' 32 run win in the title-deciding contest at the Dubai International Stadium. Kerr not only played an innings worth 43 off 38 balls but scalped 3 wickets for 24 runs in her 4 overs. 

Kerr scripted history as she became the first player in history to bag both the Player Of The Match (POT) and the Player Of The Match (POM) award after the Women's T20 World Cup final for her all-round show. While Kerr accumulated 135 runs in 6 innings with the bat, averaging 27, she was terrific with the ball and finished as the tournament's leading wicket-taker with 15 scalps to her name from 6 matches.

After match the match Kerr reflected on what was a terrific campaign for her personally and for her team, resulting in their maiden Women's T20 World Cup title.

"I'm a little bit speechless and I'm stoked to get the win considering what this team's been through. It's what dreams are made of. I thought the wicket was pretty good but slowed up a bit which I thought was probably not a bad thing with us bowling second," Kerr said at the post-match presentation.

"Bowling's what first got me in the White Ferns and it's something that I've always wanted to keep getting better at. I think I've said it all along throughout the last year, it's the spin group we have - I've never enjoyed bowling so much, they make it so much fun and I'm just enjoying myself when I'm out there. It's always better when you get the big players out," she added.

"Wickets come and go and thankfully they've come my way this tournament. (on playing with the three seniors and the youngsters together) I absolutely love it. I've played international cricket now for a while so I've got to share the field and experience playing with three of our greats but then to be a similar age to our young ones, it feels like you can build great connections with them all and that's what our team has. They're such special people and I absolutely love playing for the White Ferns and they mean so much to me," the 24-year-old said.
