NZ-W vs SL-W Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: New Zealand women registered a convincing win over Sri Lanka Women in their third Group A match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 as the White Ferns defeated the Asia Cup 2024 champions by 8 wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on October 12 (Saturday). With the win, New Zealand now have four points and stand level with Team India in terms of points, with four points in the tournament's points table. However, they are positioned third, behind second-positioned India, by virtue of having an inferior Net Run Rate (NRR).
This victory places New Zealand in a favorable position for qualifying for the knockout stage. Despite India placed above them in the points table, New Zealand have a relatively easier match next up as they will now face Pakistan in their last group-stage match. India, on the other hand, have a much tougher match as they will lock horns with the defending champions and the only undefeated team in this tournament — Australia.
