New Zealand Women Skipper Reflects On Winning The Nation Their Maiden Title

Sophie Devine has been the true 'Quarterback' of New Zealand Women cricket, and has carried the side through all the tough times with immense efficiency. After suffering 10 consecutive defeats in T20I's, their title win will go down in history as one of the finest feats in Women's cricket.

"Ah, I think once I get my hands on that trophy, I can explain you better. You have to wait for now. I started to let myself dream yesterday night as to how would it be to lift that cup in front of my teammates but I did not want to get too far ahead of myself. It's really hard to put into words. It has been a really hard journey for Me, Suzie and Lea. It's really hard to put into words, said Sophie Devine.

"Look, I think the best thing about this group is that we know what we have to achieve probably in the last 18-24 months. We have played two of the best teams in the tournament and as you said, coming with 10 losses in a row and being champions at the end of the tournament is pretty special," she added.
