Indian captain, Virat Kohli has confirmed that he will be available for selection for the ODI series against South Africa. The Indian Test captain was addressing a virtual press conference in Mumbai before team India leaves for the South Africa tour.

There were reports about Virat Kohli requesting to miss the ODI series after an alleged rift between him and India's newly appointed ODI captain, Rohit Sharma. He dismissed these reports by confirming his presence for the South Africa ODI series. In the press conference, Kohli also said that although he will miss Rohit Sharma's presence in the team, "it won't be a decisive factor" in the Test series.

"We will miss his (Rohit Sharma) abilities a lot. He has proven his ability in England. With his experience, we will miss his skills. Having said that, it is an opportunity for Mayank and KL Rahul to consolidate their place," said Virat Kohli during the press conference.

"Having said that I will miss Rohit's presence in the team, I don't think his absence would be a decisive factor in this series," Kohli added.

Commenting on the recent developments about the ODI captaincy, Kohli said that, "Noting can derail me from being motivated to play for India. A lot of things that happened outside aren’t ideal, but there is only so much you can do as an individual.

I am very focused and mentally prepared and excited to make team India win," said Virat Kohli.

Adding to this, Kohli also said that he will continue to support Rohit Sharma as ODI captain. "Rohit is a very able captain, for India and IPL, along with Rahul Bhai. Both of them will have my absolute contribution. I will continue to be the guy that pushes the team forward," Kohli said.

"I am tired of clarifying that there is not rift between me and Rohit," concluded Virat Kohli.
