Mumbai, who reached the finals by defeating Hyderabad in a rain-interrupted semi-final, won the title in 2003-2004 and 2006-2007. Delhi had captured the title in 2012-13 by defeating Jharkhand in the exciting semi-final.
Delhi's team reached the finals in 2015-16 but lost to Gujarat. Mumbai has also been the runners-up in 2011-12.
If both teams are to be compared, Mumbai's batting lineup is considered to have an upper hand. However, the team will miss the absence star player Rohit Sharma who has now joined the Indian squad for the ODI series against West Indies.
For Mumbai, teenage sensation Pithvi Shaw, who made his international debut in the Test series against West Indies, has been playing magnificently. He has played just four matches of this tournament and scored 348 runs. In the semi-final against Hyderabad he scored a brilliant half-century. Apart from him, Captain Shreyas Iyer's is also in good form with the bat. Iyer also made a half-century in the semi-final. Iyer has scored 366 runs in six matches.
The strength of the Delhi team is also their batting. Captain Gautam Gambhir is leading his team from the front and has scored 517 in nine matches. If Delhi wants to win in the final, then veteran Gambhir must lead the batting lineup from the front, giving his team a good start in the match.
Apart from Gambhir, Nitish Rane, Unmukt Chand and Dhruv Shore's are the players who can do well in the batting department.
