Notably, England’s commitment to Bazball’s approach has been constantly raising questions from the fans and former cricketers after yet another poor display of batting in the second Test against Australia. Despite a commanding position at 278/4, the English team were restricted to 325 runs, conceding a vital first-innings lead of 91 runs to Australia. Batters like Ollie Pop, Ben Duckett, and Joe Root perished even though the visitors' short-ball strategy was evident. The English skipper Ben Stokes was also departed by Mitchell Starc off the second delivery.
Meanwhile, Australian teamconcluded Day 3 on 130/2, taking a substantial lead of 221 runs over the hosts. Usman Khawaja came up with a brilliant knock once again, playing a crucial role in Australia’s innings and building partnerships with David Warner and Labuschagne.
Khawaja remained not out on 58, with Steve Smith, who scored a century in the first innings.
