South Africa Women Set To Rewrite History Books After 22 Years, As They Will Be Playing...
South Africa Women are set to create history against England Women, as after 22 years, they will be achieving THIS feat. Read below.
South Africa Women are set to take on England Women in the One-off Test match, and with that, the Proteas Women are about to rewrite history books.
The fixture will mark South Africa Women's first Test on home soil in 22 years, as the side last played a home Test back in March 2002.
The match will be played at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, and the Proteas Women have announced their 15-member squad for the One-off Test.
South Africa Women are currently enduring a forgettable white-ball series at home against England Women, as the visitors clean swept them in the T20I series, and have now levelled the ODI series 1-1, after dismantling the Proteas Women in the 2nd ODI.
Star pacer Ayabonga Khaka will not be a part of the squad, and is hence, replaced by Tumi Sekhukhune.
South Africa Women have never beaten England Women in Tests, and the hosts will be aiming to create history in front of their local fans.
"I’m excited. It will go a long way for the ladies in terms of them understanding their game and what’s needed in the longer version of the game. Getting an opportunity to play red-ball is good for our cricket and I’m looking forward to what they can bring. The measurables are quite simple for me, it’s how much time you are willing to spend in the crease as a batter and how patient you are willing to be as a bowler," said Mandla Mashimbyi, Proteas Women Head coach.
So it’s all those things that we’re going to speak about and if we can see it coming to fruition during the game, that will give us a big plus," he added.
Proteas Women Squad:
Laura Wolvaardt, Anneke Bosch, Tazmin Brits, Nadine de Klerk, Annerie Dercksen, Mieke de Ridder, Lara Goodall, Ayanda Hlubi, Sinalo Jafta, Marizanne Kapp, Masabata Klaas, Suné Luus, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Tumi Sekhukhune, Chloé Tryon.
