Shubman Gill Wins Player Of The Month Award For 2nd Time In 2023

Shubman Gill previously received ICC Men's Player of the Month award in September 2023 for his impressive performances in India's historic Asia Cup triumph.

Shubman Gill wins Player Of The Month Award: Prolific India opener Shubman Gill has won the ICC Men's Player of the Month Award for the second time in the year 2023. The coveted award highlights the exceptional year Gill has had in 2023. Shubman Gill previously received ICC Men's Player of the Month award in September 2023 for his impressive performance in his team's historic Asia Cup win and for his batting heroics in team India's 2-0 ODI series win over Australia. Gill was India's top run-getter in Asia Cup 2023 with two tons and three fifties.

Shubman Gill is now the first Indian to win Player of the Month award on multiple occasions. The star opener's first award was in January 2023 when he scored a maiden double ton in ODIs on 18th January 2023, against New Zealand. The very next month on February 1, 2023, Gill scored his T20I career's first-ever century against New Zealand.

Shubman Gill's consistent stellar performances across formats have made him one of the standout performers in international cricket this year. Despite missing team India's first two ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 matches (IND vs AUS & IND vs AFG) due to dengue, Shubman Gill remains to be team India's leading run-scorer in ODIs in 2023. So far in 2023, the 24-year-old batting star has accumulated 1230 runs, including five remarkable centuries. It is expected that Gill might make his much-awaited India comeback in Saturday's IND vs PAK World Cup match in Ahmedabad.

Notably, Gill beat his Indian counterpart Mohammed Siraj for ICC Player of the Month award. Mohammed Siraj too earned nominations for the prestigious ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award after he bagged 11 wickets for the month of October at an outstanding average of 17.27.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's Chamari Athapaththu won ICC Women's Player of the Month crown for her consistent performances and her team's maiden series win on English soil.
