Shakib, who had been facing a lean patch in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, bounced back by scoring a crucial fifty in the match against Netherlands, helping Bangladesh secure a much-needed win.


Chasing a modest target of 135 runs, Shakib Al Hasan anchored Bangladesh's innings after they had lost wickets quickly. He played a composed innings, scoring 64 runs off 46 balls, guiding Bangladesh to a crucial 25-run victory over Netherlands.

During the post-match conference, when asked about Virender Sehwag's criticism of him, Shakib Al Hasan responded with a simple "Who?".


Before his match-winning innings against Netherlands, Shakib Al Hasan accumulated mere 69 runs from six innings in T20Is in 2024 with a poor average of 11.50, along with taking six wickets from eight innings.

During the presser, Shakib said that he's never worried about his performance.


"I have never been worried about my performance. I don't think that I ever had that thought in my career. I feel good If I can contribute to the team. As I said, maybe today is my day, but maybe someone else's day will come in the next match," he said.
