India joins Australia, West Indies, and South Africa as the four teams that have secured their spots in ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 stage. Four spots remain open for contention. A total of 8 teams will compete in the Super 8 stage.

The ICC has already determined the matchups for the Super 8 stage. India, designated as A1, will face Australia, designated as B2, on June 24.


Which teams will India face in the Super 8 stage?


India's first match in the Super 8 stage will be on June 20 against the top team from Group C. Given the current scenario and ICC preferences, Afghanistan is the likely opponent. This match is scheduled to take place in Bridgetown, Barbados.


India's second Super 8 match is scheduled for June 22, where they will face the second-placed team from Group D in Antigua. Currently, Group D is highly competitive, with Bangladesh, Netherlands, Nepal all vying for the spot. However, Bangladesh is considered the frontrunner to secure this position.


India's final match in the Super 8 stage is against Australia on June 24 in St. Lucia. Australia currently leads Group B with three wins from three matches. Regardless of their group stage finish, the ICC pre-seeded them as 'B2' and India as 'A1', ensuring a matchup between the two cricketing powerhouses in the Super 8s.


Super 8 stage format: In the Super 8 stage, the teams will be divided into two groups of four each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. Following the two semi-final matches, the winners will compete in the final. T20 World Cup 2024 final match is scheduled for June 29.
