Rohit Sharma issued challans: Prior to the India-Bangladesh clash in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 scheduled for Thursday, October 19, at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune, there have been reports of Indian captain Rohit Sharma receiving multiple traffic challans for speeding on Mumbai-Pune expressway.

According to Pune Mirror, traffic authorities disclosed that Rohit was driving his Lamborghini at exceptionally high speeds, often exceeding 200 km/h and even reaching speeds of 215 km/h. Consequently, three online traffic citations were issued for his vehicle. This incident raised concerns among cricket fans and traffic officials.

The India vs Bangladesh ODI World Cup match marks the first World Cup match to be held at the MCA Stadium, located in the Gahunje village near the expressway. In the past, Pune hosted matches during the 1987 and 1996 World Cups at the city's Old Nehru Stadium. One of the most significant upsets in World Cup history took place in the city when Kenya defeated the West Indies in 1996.

Rohit Sharma top-scorer for India in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 

Speaking about the ongoing World Cup edition, Rohit has been a standout performer in the 2023 World Cup. He has been leading India admirably in their three undefeated matches in the tournament, instilling hope in Indian fans of winning the title on home soil. Rohit has accumulated 217 runs in three matches during the World Cup campaign, boasting an impressive average of over 72 and a strike rate of 141.83.

The match against Bangladesh presents a challenge for India, as they are considered overwhelming favourites, but they have lost three of their last four ODIs against the Shakib Al Hasan-led team. Rohit has scored centuries in the last two encounters between India and Bangladesh in ODI World Cups, with a hundred in the 2015 World Cup Quarter-Final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and a league-stage match during the 2019 World Cup at Edgbaston.
