PAK vs ENG: Babar Azam Breaks Rohit Sharma's Record In T20Is

Virat Kohli holds the record for most runs in T20 International cricket. The legendary India batter has amassed 4037 T20I runs, making him the only batsman to surpass the 4000-run mark in T20Is.

Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam attained a significant milestone in T20 International cricket, surpassing Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma. Babar has now become the second-highest run-scorer in T20 International cricket.

He accomplished this milestone on Saturday (May 25) at Edgbaston during Pakistan vs England 2nd T20I match of the ongoing PAK vs ENG four-match T20I series. Also, this achievement brings Babar Azam closer to Virat Kohli's world record for most runs in T20 Internationals.

Former India captain Virat Kohli holds the record for most runs in T20 International cricket. The legendary India batter has amassed 4037 runs in this format, making him the only batsman to surpass the 4000-run mark in T20Is.

In this elite list led by 'King Kohli, Rohit Sharma previously held the second spot with 3974 runs. However, Babar Azam has now surpassed Rohit Sharma, accumulating 3987 runs in T20I cricket, thus becoming the second-highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals.

Babar Azam failed to create any major impact in Saturday's ENG vs PAK 2nd T20I match in Edgbaston, scoring 32 runs off 26 balls with a strike rate of 123.08, including 4 fours.

This innings allowed the Pakistan skipper to register his name in the record books as the second-highest run-scorer in T20I cricket. However, despite his personal milestone, Pakistan suffered a crushing 23-run defeat against England.

Hosts England now have a 1-0 defeat in PAK vs ENG T20I series.

Babar is now just 13 runs away from crossing the 4000-run mark in T20 Internationals. Even if he achieves this in upcoming PAK vs ENG 3rd T20I match, he will not surpass Virat Kohli's record of reaching the milestone in fewer innings.

Kohli had reached 4000 T20I runs in a remarkable 107 innings.
