New Delhi: Shakib-al-Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim dominated the game as they stitched 359-run stand and at the end of day 2 Bangladesh stood tall with 542/7 making this day as one of their proudest in the Bangladesh cricket history.

Major embarrassment looms for the host New Zealand side as their double against Pakistan in the late 2016 becomes a distance memory and the only way out for the Black Caps is to bat, bat and bat.

Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim joined the elite club as the fourth highest fourth-wicket stand for any country while Shakib scored a magnificent 217 to become country’s highest individual scorer.

The pair batted ruthlessly to break previous record set by Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes in 2015 against Pakistan. Tamim’s 206 was bangladesh’ earlier highest individual score.

The effort’s made by Bangladesh batsmen are even more remarkable, considering the fact that Bangladesh is playing its first Test away since September 2014.
