New Zealand Cricket: New Zealand have suffered a huge setback in their white-ball cricket set-up, as the star opening duo of Devon Conway and Finn Allen have reportedly opted out of the central contract. As reported by ICC, the Kiwi duo declined the contract in favour of franchise cricket, and with that, New Zealand will have a huge task of building such a high-profile opening duo again.
Devon Conway, from the past 12 months, has constantly suffered injuries and last looked out of rhythm in 2024. However, the left-handed veteran batsman will be available for upcoming Test matches and next year's ICC Champions Trophy.
On the other hand, Finn Allen's international future does not seems to have clarity and by the looks of it, he will not be called up for international duty on regular basis, rather, would be used as a backup option if and when required.

The decision to move away from a central playing contract isn’t one I’ve taken lightly, but I believe it is the best for me and my family at this present time. Playing for the Black Caps is still the pinnacle for me and I’m hugely passionate about representing New Zealand and winning games of international cricket."
