KXIP Go Past DC To Become Team With Most Skippers In IPL History With KL Rahul's Captaincy Debut

KL Rahul became the twelfth skipper to lead Punjab in the IPL, thereby making KXIP the team to have been led by the most skippers in the history of the T20 league. Before the match, DC and KXIP shared the top spot with 11 skippers having captained them over the last 12 editions of the league.

KL Rahul's debut as Kings Eleven Punjab skipper ended up on a losing note as Delhi Capitals edged them in a pulsating encounter by winning the Super Over in Game 2 of the IPL 13 played at Dubai on September 20. Punjab franchise might have lost a nail bitter in their campaign opener but there was a record they registered with KL Rahul doning the captaincy hat for the very first time in the team's encounter against Delhi Capitals in 13th season of the IPL. KL Rahul became the twelfth skipper to lead Punjab in the IPL, thereby making KXIP the team to have been led by the most skippers in the history of the T20 league. Before the match, DC and KXIP shared the top spot with 11 skippers having captained them over the last 12 editions of the league. KXIP, one of the three teams apart from Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore who are yet to win the IPL since competing in every season since 2008, had Yuvraj Singh as their first captain in the inaugural season. Under 'Yuvi', KXIP ended up in the play-offs after securing the second spot in the points table in 2008. Yuvraj finished his captaincy career with 17 wins in 29 matches. Former Australian batting great Adam Gilchrist holds the record for captaining Kings Eleven Punjab in most IPL games. Gilchrist led the Punjab franchise in 34 games and is tied with Yuvraj Singh for most wins registered under their captaincy. Murali Vijay - 3 wins in 8 matches 9. David Miller - 1 win in 6 matches 10. Mahela Jayawardene - 1 defeat in 1 match 11. Virender Sehwag - His only match as captain ended in a tie (KXIP won) 12. KL Rahul - 1 tied match (Delhi Capitals won)
