Jay Shah's Rumoured Replacement As BCCI Secretary Rejects Role

DDCA president Rohan Jaitley has rubbished the rumours of him taking over as Jay Shah's successor in case the current BCCI's secretary takes up the ICC chairman role.

Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley has dismissed rumours that he might be in line to become the next Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary if Jay Shah is elected as the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman as per an IANS report. Earlier, a report circulated suggesting that Jay Shah, the current BCCI secretary, is a strong candidate to succeed Greg Barclay as ICC chairman, as Barclay has chosen not to pursue another term.

A Dainik Bhaskar report, dated August 26, suggested that Jay Shah is almost certain to become the next ICC chairman, with the support of 15 out of 16 ICC board members. It also indicated that Rohan Jaitley, son of Arun Jaitley, is leading the race to succeed Shah as BCCI secretary after his appointment to the ICCand that Jaitley emerged as the frontrunner for the BCCI secretary position, with broad agreement on his candidacy within the BCCI.

Rohan Jaitley Says No To BCCI Job

However, an IANS report on August 27 suggests that Jaitley has dismissed these claims, stating that his primary focus remains on promoting the Delhi Premier League (DPL). This development adds a new layer of uncertainty to the situation, as it remains unclear who will step into the role if Jay Shah assumes the ICC chairman position.

ICC chairman Greg Barclay announced last week that he will step down from his role at the end of his current third term on 30 November. Hence, the new ICC chairman is expected to assume office on December 1, with the deadline for filing nominations set for 27 August.
