Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) seamer Mohammad Siraj produced the spell of his life in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to script a massive 8-wicket for his team against Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

The tearaway speedster bowled a fiery opening spell and wrecked the Kolkata Knight Riders top order with 3 quick wickets and put his team in a winning position at the initial stages of the encounter itself.

Siraj returned with figures of 3 for 8 runs from his 4 overs as RCB thumped KKR by 8 wickets and overtook Mumbai Indians to claim the second place on the IPL 2020 points table.

Opening the bowling for the first time in Season 13 at Abu Dhabi, Siraj delivered the goods by sending back Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana and Tom Banton to trigger a batting collapse in the powerplay.

Siraj thanked the almighty for his match winning performance and his skipper Virat Kohli for reposing faith in his abilities and handing him the new ball in the powerplay.

"First I want to thank Allah for my performance. Then thanks to Virat for giving me the new ball. I have been practicing a lot with the new ball.

RCB skipper Virat Kohli later on revealed that he initially he thought of opening the bowling with off-spinner Washington Sundar but changed his mind and gave the ball to Siraj instead. The move eventually proved to be a masterstroke for RCB as they restricted KKR to the lowest total this season.

"We hadn't planned that I will open but when we went out, Virat bhai said Miyan ready ho jao. [Sir, get ready.]. The ball to Rana was very good. Executed exactly what I had planned," Siraj said after receiving the Player of the Match award.

RCB restricted KKR to a paltry 84 for 8 run total after Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected to bat first at Abu Dhabi. Kohli and Co. then chased down the highly getable target with 8 wickets in hand in the 14th over to win their 7th match of the season.
