Kings Eleven Punjab registered their fourth consecutive win in the ongoing thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 12 runs at an encounter played at Dubai on Saturday (October 24).


While Punjab kept their play-off hopes intact with another clinical performance at the fag end of the tournament, their veteran Windies batsman Chris Gayle attained yet another personal milestone in his T20 career.

When Gayle walked out to bat at No.3 for KXIP against DC in IPL 2020 encounter played on Saturday, it happened to be his 400th T20 innings.

The 'Universal Boss' happened to join his Windies team mate Kieron Pollard, who happens to be the first batsman to have achieved the landmark.

Windies all-rounder Kieron Pollard holds the record for the most T20 innings, coming out to bat a record 464 times in the shortest format fo the game. Gayle became only the second batsman to play 400 T20 innings.

Missing out on the the first half of the ongoing thirteenth edition of the IPL, Gayle has chipped in with useful contributions of 53, 24, 29 for Kings XI Punjab so far in the three matches he has featured in IPL 2020 and is only 36 runs away from 1000 T20 runs for the KXIP team.

‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle is only 36 runs away from notching up 1000 runs for KXIP. Since Gayle has featured in the KXIP playing XI, the Punjab based franchise have won all three matches after being placed at the bottom of the points table having won just one game in their first seven league encounters.

Returning to professional cricket for the first time after January 2020, Gayle struck a match winning 53 runs off 45 balls to help Punjab clinch a win against RCB.
