Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Varun Chakravarthy attained a personal milestone and also scripted a major record in the ongoing thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League at United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday.


Chakravarthy produced match winning figures of 5 for 20 and registered his best figures in the ongoing edition of the IPL. Chakravarthy's maiden five wicket haul was instrumental in KKR pulling off a dominant 59-run win over Delhi Capitals in IPL encounter played at Abu Dhabi.

Chakravarthy's figures were the best bowling figures by any bowler in the 13th edition being played at the UAE. He also happened to be the first bowler to pick up a five wicket haul in the ongoing season.

The mystery spinner turned around the game for Morgan-led KKR by wrecking through Delhi Capitals batting lineup picking up 5 wickets in the space of 11 deliveries. Chakravarthy took the wickets of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel.

Chakravarty's figures of 5-20 also happened to be the second best figures by a KKR bowler in IPL history. Sunil Narine happens to head the list with 5-19 against Kings Eleven Punjab at Kolkata in 2012.

Earlier KKR piled up a mammoth 194-run total on the back of a whirlwind half ton by Nitesh Rana and a quick-fire 32-ball 64. After KKR's early setbacks, both the left-handers hit a flurry of boundaries and steered KKR to a dominant total of 194 runs.
