Royal Challengers Bangalore will like to finally end their tag as perenial underachievers and bid for a maiden IPL title when they take to the 8-team field in the thirteenth edition of the IPL which gets underway from September 19 at UAE.


RCB have made it to 3 IPL finals in their 12-edition stint at the IPL but still await their maiden title.The Bangalore based franchise which will once again be led by Indian skipper Virat Kohli look competitive yet again but will have to rely on contributions by each member rather than over-dependence on their stalwarts -Kohli and De Villiers.

RCB's batting fortunes will once again be dependent on their Proteas batting genius AB De Villiers who has been an integral element of their batting lineup with skipper Virat Kohli

The South African batting wizard is all excited to don the Red and Gold jersey and give his best shot with the bat. While De Villiers will spearhead the batting efforts, the South African shared a light moment with his skipper suggestion that he can also roll over his arm with the ball if the team needed him to do so.

“I’ve always joked with Virat (Kohli) and I told him two nights ago, ‘If you need me with the ball in hand, I’ll be there’. I’ve never been a great bowler but I love toying around and keeping things fresh out there,” AB said in an episode of the ‘Bold Dairies’.

De Villiers popularly known as 'Mr 360' owing to his versatile shot making was very excited about the prospect of the team signing some major T20 stalwarts in (Aaron) Finch, Moeen Ali, Adam Zampa and Josh Philippe. He went onto add that he would love see the extremely talented Australian batsman Josh as he finds his strokeplay similar to when he was young.

"I am excited about Josh, I watched him play for the Sydney Sixers, he takes the new ball on, he is a very talented player, I have heard Gilchrist say really some good things about him," the former South Africa captain told on a video on RCB's official App.
