India women's team arrives to grand welcome


New Delhi: Indian women’s team arrived in Mumbai on early Wednesday morning to a grand welcome amidst beating drum and loud cheers.


A large contingent of officials and media gathering was present at the Mumbai airport to receive the team, which had a dream run till the finals of ICC Women’s World Cup in England.


India played hosts England in the final, eventually ending up on the losing cause by 9 runs. However, their performance throughout the tournament has earned them praises from all horizons.


The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) has announced cash awards for the team members with each player set to receive 50 lakhs while supporting staff will receive 25 lakh each.


It was India’s second appearance in the finals of the elite competition; the women in blue made it to finals in 2005 but were defeated by Australia
