In what comes as a massive boost for the Indian cricket team, star batter KL Rahul has resumed batting and is likely to be part of a full-fledged net session in days to come. Rohit Sharma-led team India is currently on the West Indies tour. The visitors will play a three-match ODI and a five-match T20 series after the two-match Test series gets over. KL Rahul is one big name among those players who aren't part of the Windies tour due to injuries.

KL Rahul sustained a thigh injury in the IPL 2023 mid-season while fielding in a Lucknow Super Giants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore fixture and has been out of action since May 1. In May itself, the star batter underwent a successful surgery. Earlier it was speculated that KL Rahul would make his India comeback with the 2023 Asia Cup, but now it seems like Rahul might return to international cricket from India vs Ireland T20 series itself. The star batter is currently under rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

In Rishabh Pant's absence, team India needs an experienced wicketkeeper batsman. Even if KL Rahul fails to get match-fit for 2023 Asia Cup, in all likelihood, he still will be part of India's ODI World Cup 2023 squad. Karnataka-born Rahul enjoyed a great run for India in World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 cycle. Out of the 11 games he played, Rahul scored 636 runs at a decent average of 30.28.

Meanwhile, multiple reports suggest that Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer might make international comeback with India's tour of Ireland, a three-match T20 International series between the two teams.
