India vs England 3rd ODI went in favor of the home team as England felt short while chasing 330 runs. This win in the 3rd ODI marks the third straight series victory for India. It also marks the end of a long England tour of India. India defeated the World Champions in all three formats of the game. India conquered the Test series 3-1. They took over the T20I series by 4-1 and finally the ODI series is won 2-1 by India.
Virat Kohli would be extremely proud of the performance by his team all throughout the tour. The striking thing in the Test and T20I series was that India had lost the first game of the series. In the Test series, India came back strong to win the series 3-1 while in the T20Is India came back and won four matches to seal the series 4-1.
But the ODI series win would mean a world for the Indian team as England are the reigning World Champions in ODIs. To defeat the strongest team in ODIs after losing three tosses on a trot would mean a lot to the Indian captain.
The 3rd ODI was like a see-saw battle between India and England. Indian openers started pretty well but later, Rohit fell when India’s score was 103-0. India lost the top order for 54 runs. At the end of 25 overs, India’s score was 157-4. But Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya played well and did not let India’s run rate go down. Pant and Pandya scored 78 and 64 respectively. Shardul Thakur’s flurry of sixes helped India reach the score of 329 runs.
England had a poor start and couldn’t capitalize on the form that they had in the first two ODIs. England were 95-4 in the 15th over. But, the lower order batsmen came to the rescue of the England innings but only to some extent. The eighth wicket partnership between Curran and Rashid looked threatening for India. Sam Curran went down like a fighter but only to be short by a few runs.
It was a happy outing for team India.
