India Vs Afghanistan T20I Series: Afghanistan suffer a major setback as star all-rounder Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the three match T20I series against India. The Gujarat Titans player earlier underwent a lower back surgery and the star player is still recovering from it, thereby, making him unavailable.

The confirmation of the news came via Sportstar, who reported the information which was confirmed by the Afghanistan skipper Ibrahim Zadran.

“He is not totally fit, but is travelling with the team. We hope that he gets fit as soon as we expect him to. He’s doing his rehab with the doctor, and we will miss him in the series," said Afghanistan skipper, Ibrahim Zadran.

However, Ibrahim Zadran seemed to take a positive out of it and said that in his absence, others in the locker room will get a chance to prove themselves against a mighty Indian side, that too in India.

"Without Rashid, there are a few players that we have trust in. I can say, they will play good cricket. Others have also played a lot of cricket and I am sure they will perform well. Without Rashid, we will struggle because his experience is crucial to all of us, but this is cricket and you need to be ready for any kind of situation. Nabi is the most senior guy in our team and he should play. He has lots of experience,” he added.

The wrist-spinner has been pivotal for the Afghans ever since he made his debut against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo in 2015, and has scalped 130 wickets in just 82 T20I's, with an astounding economy rate of 5.90. Already a living legend of the shortest international format, the Afghanistan faithful will be hoping for his speedy recovery, keeping in mind the upcoming T20 World Cup in June 2024.
