India Looking After Us Very Well: Babar Azam Ahead Of Pakistan's World Cup 2023 Opener

World Cup 2023: Pakistan are playing their first match in India in seven years.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is impressed with the treatment that his team is getting in India. While his team have been put in Hyderabad, ever since they have set foot on Indian soil, Babar has already had a short trip to Ahmedabad in a private jet for the captains' day event. Everytime he had been asked, the Pakistani skipper has had only good things to say about their stay in India and has even gone on to say that he is feeling "at home."

And once again the 28-year-old said the same in a statement at the toss ahead of the team's first match in India in seven years. The last time Pakistan came to India was in 2016 for a T20 World Cup campaign.

"Ah, They are looking after very well. All the team members and players are enjoying. Yes, we will try our best. Today teams. We believe in our openers. Fakhar and Imam are the starters. Shaheen, Haris and Hasan will be in the pace department. To be honest, 290-300-plus [target looking at]," Babar said at the toss ahead of the team's campaign opener against Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Pakistan were invited to bat first after Netherlands won the toss. The Dutch even scalped early wickets but it was a century stand between Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan that helped them make a proper recovery and get a firm grip on the match. Shakeel, in particular, was the aggressor and took the attack to the opposition, completing a half-century in 32 balls to put Pakistan in a position of solidity in Hyderabad. Pakistan's next match will be against Sri Lanka at the same venue.
