IND vs WI: Virat & Rohit Just '27 Runs Away' From Attaining A Major Record in ODIs

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma need just 27 to complete 1000 runs partnership against West Indies in ODIs and become the 1st pair to score 1000 partnership runs against Windies in ODIs

Indian skipper Virat Kohli played a masterclass innings in India’s win in the second ODI vs Windies at the Oueen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad. India skipper scored a brilliant 120 off 125 balls to help India post 279 for seven after opting to bat. In return, West Indies were comfortably placed at 148 for four after the 27th over before they kept losing wickets in quick succession to be bundled out for 210 in 42nd over. With that win, India took an unassailable 1-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series and, today, will look to lift the ODI trophy as well after a clinical show in the T20I series. The batting duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma need just 27 to complete 1000 runs partnership against West Indies in ODIs and become the 1st pair to score 1000 partnership runs against Windies in ODIs. Rohit Sharma (8676 runs runs 217 matches) needs 26 runs to go past former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh (8701 runs in 304 matches) on the ODI batting charts. Ever since India's exit from the World Cup in the semifinals, there have been rumours about a rift between Kohli and Rohit. However, both Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri have denied the reports with the India captain terming the rumours "baffling". In a video posted by the BCCI on twitter after the second ODI, Kohli was seen having a candid conversation with Chahal in which he revealed how the temperature in Port of Spain took a toll on him as he got tired after reaching 65. “It was challenging as it rained in day time, so it was hot and humid. Honestly, I was tired when I reached the score of 65, but the situation demanded me to work hard for the team,” Kohli said. “It was important for me to stay at the crease. As a team, we try that one of our top three batsmen goes on to play a big knock. Shikhar and Rohit have done that for us in the past, but today they couldn’t score so it was important one should go on to score a big innings.”
