Moments after edging past Javed Miandad’s 26-year-old ODI record against West Indies, Indian skipper Virat Kohli added another feather in his cap. Kohli surpassed former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly’s record to become the 2^nd-highest run-scorer for India in ODIs. The 30-year-old was 77 runs shy off surpassing Sourav Ganguly’s tally of 11,363 ODI runs. He reached the milestone on the 4^th delivery of the 32^nd over with a single. However, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar remains on top of the table with all-time highest —18, 426 runs in this format. Kohli didn’t just stop here itself but continued hammering the Windies bowlers. After breaking the above-mentioned two records, the Indian skipper went on to slam the 42^nd century of his ODI career. He notched up the triple figures off 112 deliveries. It was also his 20^th century as the Indian captain and 8^th against West Indies. As soon as Kohli took the single to get his century, Ganguly took to his official Twitter handle to appreciate the young man. Here’s the post:

Kohli played his first ODI against West Indies in the 2009 Champions Trophy in Johannesburg in which he scored an unbeaten 79. His first hundred against the West Indies came in 2011 in Visakhapatnam. His domination against the West Indies can be gauged from the fact that he struck four back-to-back centuries against them between July 2017 and October 2018. Earlier, India won the toss and chose to bat first. Opener Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed by Oshane Thomas off the third ball of the first over and so Kohli was put in to bat early. He and Rohit Sharma have since taken control of the innings as India surpassed the 50-run mark in the 10th over.
