Earlier, before the announcement of the World Cup 2023 fixtures, the Pakistan cricket board was objecting to playing against India in Ahmedabad and spin-heavy Afghanistan in Chennai and Bengaluru. But then the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the International Cricket Council did not agree to Pakistan's request and the ODI World Cup 2023 schedule was declared during the grand '100 days to World Cup ceremony' in Mumbai. Initially, they cited political reasons and wanted India vs Pakistan clash to happen in Kolkata, Chennai, or Bangalore but amidst all the chaos, IND vs PAK World Cup match will be held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
