Meanwhile, former India skipper Virat Kohli expressed delight over ODI World Cup 2023 schedule announcement and picked the venue he is most excited to play at during the mega ICC tournament.
For the first time in the history of ODI World Cup, India is organizing this mega event alone. Earlier, in the ODI World Cup played in 1987, 1996 and 2011, India organized this event in collaboration with other countries of the Asian subcontinent -- Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
After announcing the schedule, ICC released a video of a conversation with Virat Kohli in which he said, "I am very excited to play at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai during the World Cup. There have been a lot of good memories from this ground." Mumbai's Wankhede stadium is the venue where MS Dhoni-led India defeated Sri Lanka to win 2011 World Cup.
"Personally, I'm looking forward to playing in Mumbai in this World Cup. It'll be great to experience that atmosphere again. I can understand what they went through and how special it is to play home World Cup and how excited people are going to be," Virat Kohli told ICC.
"I was quite young then. I saw what it meant to the seniors. I can understand what they went through and how special it is to play a home world cup and how excited they are going to be," Kohli added.
