London: British journalist Piers Morgan on Saturday confirmed that England cricket team's ex-batsman Kevin Pietersen's Twitter account has been locked for violating the micro-blogging website's rules against abuse and harassment - after Pietersen embroiled in a war of words with Morgan following a row with him over whether pubs in England should have reopened amid coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. "BREAKING: Kevin Pietersen suspended from Twitter for threatening to slap me...Amusing though this is, it was an obvious joke and a) I don't feel remotely harassed b) he can't slap his way out of a paper bag. So, please reinstate him UK Twitter," Morgan said in a tweet.

In the snapshot, Twitter further said: "Please note that repeated violations may lead to permanent suspension of your account. Proceed to Twitter now to fix the issue with your account."

Apparently, Pietersen had said he would slap Morgan when he gets the opportunity. "Piers Morgan I slap you when I see you. That won't be nonsense."

The banter between Morgan and Pietersen after the Good Morning Britain presenter wrote: “Reopening Britain’s pubs on a sunny Saturday in July was dumb enough. Letting them open from 6am is stupefyingly stupid.

“Does anyone at No10 have a brain? Or do they just want us all to die? Serious questions.”Pietersen, who turned 40 last week, responded that he believes it is safe for pubs to open.

He tweeted: “Average age to die is around 80! Small % death rate. Stop your nonsense, fat boy!”
