EXCLUSIVE: Harbhajan hails ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle as RCB defeat Gujarat Lions
New Delhi: Harbhajan Singh feels Chris Gayle was the difference between Royal Challengers and Gujarat Lions in Tuesday’s match in Rajkot.
RCB registered a comprehensive 21 run win over Gujarat, thanks to a swashbuckling 77 off 38 balls from Chris Gayle.
Talking to ABP news in an exclusive interview, Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh hailed Chris Gayle’s performance. “Gayle was unstoppable today. He scored quickly and his innings actually turned out to be the difference between two sides,”
The West Indian became the first ever cricketer to score 10,000 runs in the shortest format of the game. He achieved this feat in 290 T20 matches with strike rate of 149.20.
“It is an outstanding achievement to score 10,000 runs and he has achieved it with a remarkable strike rate, hats off to him” said Harbhajan
The 37-year-old left hand batsman was dropped in the previous game against Rising Pune Supergiant but injury to AB de Villiers just hours before the game in Rajkot saw Gayle coming back into the starting XI. Gayle’s 77 in 38 balls helped Royal Challengers set 213 runs on the board.
"Whenever Gayle bats like this RCB is more or less sure to get more than 200 and then it gets very difficult to chase down" said the veteran Indian cricketer
Victory against Gujarat Lions saw Royal Challengers move to 6th position in the points table, collecting 4 points in 6 games with 2 wins and have lost 4 games.
“Anything can happen in IPL, tables turn with every match and every day. Overall RCB’s batting is very good but bowling is not their strong point. They are a very good chasing side. “ Harbhajan said in an interview with ABP news
