Dhoni refuses to play for Jharkhand in Vijay Hazare Trophy

It is evident from the current incident that there is definitely a lack of communication between the selectors and the senior players and the players themselves are likely taking a decision for themselves

Former Indian captain and veteran player Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has reversed the decision of the national selection committee and has refused to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on behalf of Jharkhand. Just two days before, Chief selector MSK Prasad had publicly announced that Dhoni was scheduled to be part of the Jharkhand team in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

It is evident from the current incident that there is definitely a lack of communication between the selectors and the senior players and the players themselves are likely taking a decision for themselves.

Recently, Dhoni has not been in the best form with the batsman for the last two years, he was also expected to play for Jharkhand's quarterfinal match against Maharashtra.

However, on Saturday, Jharkhand Chief Coach Rajiv Kumar told reporters in Bangalore that Dhoni decided not to play in the quarterfinals, while the chief selector had earlier announced his participation in it.

This year so far, Dhoni has played international cricket for just 22 days (15 ODIs and seven T20 Internationals). This can be a major reason of him not being in form whenever he plays after a long break.

After Dhoni's decision, questions have arisen whether Prasad talked to Dhoni before making public declaration or not.

A senior BCCI official said on Saturday, "I would like to know how MSK Prasad approaches Dhoni."
