Delhi Capitals (DC), the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise left the netizens confused on September 10 (Tuesday). DC’s X (formerly Twitter) account was supposedly hacked and the handle even posted multiple posts informing people about cryptocurrency, leaving everyone surprised.
In a type of online scam that is prevalent these days, significant accounts are being compromised to promote dubious businesses and fake currencies. The official X account of Delhi Capitals fell victim to such a breach, with the hacker posting the following tweet:
“Yes this is a hacked account! We've launched a token called $HACKER on Solana CA: 3oBm3m2NW9auqhYTe2S92U9v6vam4cU9DYk23bwp8Yf4. We will make profits, WE hack accounts on each account the token address will be posted and the token will pump. Search $HACKER to see our strength!”

To Delhi Capital’s relief, the account was quickly restored, and all the viral posts were removed.
Notably, this isn't the first time an IPL team's X account has been hacked; RCB's social media handle experienced a similar issue in the past.
Coming to the IPL, in the IPL season 2024, DC, led by Rishabh Pant, missed the playoffs once again. They were tied on 14 points with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), but RCB advanced after defeating CSK in a must-win match for the both teams. The Delhi-based franchise ended up in sixth place, missing the top four for the third consecutive year. The DC franchise has yet to secure an IPL or WPL title and will be aiming for victory in the IPL 2025 season.
