Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup that is scheduled to be played in October-November this year, due to a back injury, reported TOI.


As per Chahar's scan results, the pacer will be out from the game for at least four months. Chahar had faced a quadriceps tear which intensified after he started bowling in the nets at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Deepak Chahar, who was acquired by the franchisee for a jaw-dropping INR 14 crore in the mega auction, has already been ruled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. 


Earlier, there were reports about Chahar, in all probability, joining the Chennai Super Kings camp before the second week of April but now his back injury coupled with a quadricep tear has forced him to not be available for the entire IPL 2022 season.


In his international career, Chahar has played seven ODIs and T20 matches in which he has taken 10 and 26 wickets respectively. He has taken 59 wickets in 63 IPL matches. Deepak Chahar has played a key role in the success of the Chennai Super Kings over the years.


The fast bowler was injured during the third and final T20I between India and West Indies in Kolkata, last month. There was a strain in his thigh muscles.


Chahar's franchise, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will play their sixth match in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 17, 2022.
