New Delhi: In what comes as a huge blow for defending champions Chennai Super Kings, their leading speedster Deepak Chahar, who was acquired by the franchisee for a jaw-dropping INR 14 crore in mega auction, has been ruled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after he suffered a back injury during his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), PTI reported.
The bowling all-rounder has been at NCA for over 30 days now to recover from the quadricep tear he sustained during Sri Lanka's tour of India in February.

Chahar's unfortunate exit from this year's IPL has added woes to MS Dhoni-led CSK's disastrous campaign in the IPL. The defending champions are currently placed at the bottom of the IPL 2022 Points Table after losing all their four matches so far. Chahar had played a key role in CSK's success in IPL 2021.
Earlier, there were reports that Chahar would join the Chennai Super Kings camp before the second week of April but now his back injury coupled with a quadricep tear has forced him to not be available for the entire IPL 2022 season.
In his international career, Chahar has played seven ODIs and T20 matches in which he has taken 10 and 26 wickets respectively. He has taken 59 wickets in 63 IPL matches.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will play their fifth match in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 12 April, today.
