DDCA Geared Up To Unveil 'Virat Kohli Stand' At Kotla
The twin ceremony will take place at the Weightlifting Auditorium of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the Capital
The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) is all set to unveil a new Pavilion Stand as Virat Kohli Stand at the DDCA Annual Honours 2019 on Friday. An animated movie on Indian skipper will be another highlight. The DDCA will also name the stadium after former president Arun Jaitley. Interestingly, the players have been asked to be present in traditional clothes at the event.
The twin ceremony will take place at the Weightlifting Auditorium of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the Capital.
“While we pay rich tributes to the departed soul of Jaitley ji, we also want to recognise the services that our own player, Virat, has done to bring laurels to Indian as well as Delhi cricket.", said DDCA President Rajat Sharma.
DDCA President Rajat Sharma said that the occasion presents the state cricketing board the opportunity to honor Virat Kohli.
"Several of Virat's achievements are mindboggling. He is one of those rare species and the players pavilion stand after his name at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is the just recognition for his contribution", Sharma added.
“We want to make it a riveting event where we pay the best tributes possible to keep Jaitley ji’s memory alive. His contributions have helped a lot of Delhi cricketers. Naming the stadium after him will serve the cause and purpose", said Rajat Sharma.
The glitzy function, to be held at the Weightlifting Auditorium, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, will be graced by the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as chief guest, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju, as the guest of honour.
