David Miller, star South Africa batter, took to his official social media handle to dismiss rumours of his retirement from T20 Internationals following South Africa’s T20 World Cup 2024 final heartbreak against India in Barbados recently. South Africa, one of the two unbeaten teams in the tournament, made history by reaching the final for the first time, after defeating Afghanistan in the semifinals. However, they couldn't maintain their form in the final, despite being in a strong position until the 15th over.
On July 2 (Tuesday), 35-year-old David Miller took to his official Instagram handle to confirm that he would continue to be available to play for the Proteas in the shortest format of the game. Miller denied retirement rumours, stating he will continue to be available for T20 International cricket and promising that "The best is yet to come."

"I am gutted!! Really tough pill to swallow after what transpired 2 days ago. Words don't explain how I am feeling. One thing I do know is how proud I am of this unit. Another ICC Event Heartbreak For The Proteas
Coming to the India vs South Africa T20 World Cup 2024 final, South Africa seemed on course for a memorable win, needing 30 runs in as many balls. However, the Indian bowling unit, led by Jasprit Bumrah, turned the game around by taking the key wickets of Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen.
With Miller at the crease and 16 runs needed off the last over, South Africa still had hope. But a spectacular boundary catch by Suryakumar Yadav ended Miller’s innings, ending South Africa's hopes of victory. Notably this match was the closest South Africa had come to winning a title, having previously made seven semifinal exits in ICC global events.
