India's 2012 U-19 captain, Unmukt Chand will be making his Big Bash League (BBL) debut on Tuesday. He represents Melbourne Renegades in the BBL.
He has been named in the Playing XI for the match against Hobart Hurricanes.
Unmukt Chand will become the first Indian to represent any BBL team. Unfortunately for Chand, his team is at the bottom of the league after playing 12 matches. He will make his debut at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne.
Chand announced his retirement from international cricket in November 2021. He was also part of Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chand played his First-class cricket as a Delhi player and made his debut at the age of 18.
"I've loved watching the Big Bash and players around the world coming in," Chand told ESPNCricinfo. "It's a great platform and I always wanted to play there. I'm really looking forward in the coming years that I can make a name for myself and hopefully win championships for the teams I play for."
Fans and experts had high hopes for Unmukt but he failed to make any impact. In IPL, Unmukt played for Delhi, Mumbai and Rajasthan but failed to impress. After making the announcement of his retirement, he shifted to America and performed brilliantly in minor league cricket in America.
