Bangladesh Defeat New Zealand By 8 Wickets, First Asian Team In 10 Years To Win Test On Kiwi Soil

NZ Vs BD, 1st Test: It was a complete team effort by the Bangladesh team but the 3rd innings clean-up by Ebadot Hussain earned him a man of the match award for his six wickets.

Bangladesh registered a historic victory against New Zealand on Wednesday. They defeated the Kiwis by 8 wickets in the first Test match at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui.

The World Test Champions face their first home defeat in 10 years against an Asian team. This Test match win is historic in many ways as Bangladesh registered their first-ever win against New Zealand. The first victory coming in an away fixture makes it even more special.

It was a complete team effort by the Bangladesh team but the 3rd innings clean-up by Ebadot Hussain earned him a man of the match award for his six wickets.

At the start of Day 5, New Zealand was 147/5 with just a 9 run lead and all their hopes relying on the veteran batsman, Ross Taylor. Ebadot Hussain and Taskin Ahmed did not allow the NZ batsmen much time to settle in as they were bundled out for 169.

Bangladesh required only 40 runs to win the Test match which they did with some ease.

For New Zealand, Devon Conway scored a hundred in the first innings, but apart from him, there were not many positive performances. On the other hand, Bangladesh batted fluently in the second innings of the match scoring 458 runs. Mahmadul Hasan, Liton Das, and Mominul, all scored fifties to take Bangladesh to a good score.

Here is how some of the former cricketers reacted to Bangladesh's historic win:
