In an exclusive conversation with ABP Live, the 29-year-old player from Vidarbha shared his invaluable interactions with India's head coach, Rahul Dravid, and former Indian captain, MS Dhoni.

Jitesh Sharma, the talented batsman, and wicketkeeper, who gained prominence for his outstanding performances with Punjab Kings in the IPL, is now set to represent India in the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games. His remarkable display in the IPL caught the attention of selectors, and he is eagerly looking forward to making his mark on the international stage.

In an exclusive conversation with ABP Live, the 29-year-old player from Vidarbha shared his invaluable interactions with India's head coach, Rahul Dravid, and former Indian captain, MS Dhoni. These encounters have left a lasting impact on Jitesh's approach to the game.

Speaking about his conversation with Rahul Dravid, during the series against Sri Lanka in January this year, Jitesh recounted, "What do you think Jitesh, why are you here?" Dravid asked him when the young cricketer approached the legendary batsman with a question about his batting style.

"I said my strength is my strike rate, I have the ability to score quick runs, and that is why I am here. Rahul sir then told me that yes, you have to do the same thing and you can really think differently since you are about to play for India. Keep on playing your natural cricket and eventually, you will get to learn a lot of things”, the 29-year-old stated.

Dhoni's Simple Advice

Jitesh also cherished his encounter with MS Dhoni, during his first match in IPL 2022, a cricketing icon known for his simplicity and practicality. Seeking advice on his batting and wicketkeeping skills, Jitesh received a straightforward response from Dhoni.

“I asked MS Dhoni about my batting and keeping. He came up with a very simple answer. He said, do not think about trying something new. Keep on playing your natural game, and do what you have been doing so far with positive intent”, Jitesh told ABP Live.

With valuable insights from cricketing greats, Jitesh Sharma is ready to showcase his talents and contribute to India's success in the prestigious tournament.
