Argentina Women Smash 427/1 In T20I Match Against Chile Women, Shatter Several Records In 364-Run Win
Argentina's openers, Lucia Taylor and Albertina Galan stitched together a 350-run partnership in 16.5 overs.
In a women's T20I scorecard that is set to be etched in the history books and could even be part of several cricket quizzes going forward, Argentina created a jaw-dropping spectacle by amassing an astounding 427/1 in their first innings, setting a new record for the highest score in T20Is (Men's or Women's). When Chile's captain, Camila Valdes, won the toss and chose to field first, her bowlers were not aware that they were about to step into one of the most astonishing T20I games ever played with them on the receiving end of a dominant batting display by Argentina. The incident happened when Argentina faced Chile in Corimayo, Buenos Aires, on Friday, October 13 (Friday). The match saw an unbelievable performance by the host side, shattering numerous records and leaving cricket fans awestruck.
Argentina's openers, Lucia Taylor and Albertina Galan, crafted an astonishing and scarcely believable 350-run partnership in just 16.5 overs. While Taylor played a remarkable innings of 169 runs off 84 balls, featuring an incredible 27 fours. Galan, on the other hand, remained unbeaten at 145 runs off 84 balls, a knock laced with 23 fours. Maria Castineiras joined the action at No. 3 and played a cameo of 40 runs off 16 balls that saw her hit seven boundaries. Remarkably, Argentina's batters did not hit a single six throughout their innings but they were helped by the fact that Chile conceded a jaw-dropping 73 extras.

Notably, Florencia Martinez, one of Chile's seven debutants in the match, conceded 52 runs in a single over. Another bowler, Constanza Oyarce, was on the receiving end of 92 runs in her four-over spell, while Emilia Toro gave away 83 runs in just three overs. The most economical bowler for Chile was Esperanza Rubio, who conceded 57 runs in her four overs, recording an economy rate of 14.25.
Following a horror outing on the field with the ball, which saw them give away one bye, eight wides and as many as 64 no-balls, the Chilean batters had a challenging task ahead with the bat but it was far from being fighting chase as only one of their batters, Jessica Miranda, managed to reach double figures. Jessica Miranda, who also claimed the sole wicket in the Argentine innings, ended as the highest scorer for Chile. Argentina too were not too disciplined as they conceded 29 extras in Chile's innings. However, they still managed to wrap up the Chile innings in 15 overs with a score of 63. Consequently, the Chilean side suffered a staggering defeat by 364 runs, giving Argentina a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
It would be interesting to see how Chile recover from the heavy defeat and come back to peform in the remaining two games of the bilateral affair.
