Mentored by 1983 World Cup final hero Mohinder Amarnath, 14-year-old boy Priyanshu Mauliya played an amazing knock of unbeaten 556 runs in a youth tournament. Right-handed batsman Priyanshu Mauliya, playing for Mohinder Lala Amarnath Cricket Academy (M.L.A.C.A) scored 408 runs on day one and then added 148 runs on day two against Yogi Cricket Academy in the Shri DK Gaekwad Under-14 tournament. It was a two-day fixture between both the teams.
Accoding to media reports, talking about his brilliant batting, Priyanshu said, “My previous highest was 254 in the same tournament last year. I was just playing my normal game as the bowling attack was good. It was a satisfying inning, but yes, I was beaten on four to five occasions. After my first hundred on Monday, I told myself that I need to score 200. I set goals of 100 runs each and was determined to continue playing the same way.”
Mohinder while praising the emerging talent and said, “When I saw him for the first time, I knew I was seeing something special. He is a fine talent and he will get better with exposure. I like his passion as well.”
Apart from being a very good batsman, Priyanshu has also proved himself as a good off-spinner. The 14-year-old took four wickets on day one to bundle out his opponents for just 52 runs.
